FAQ about making CSEBs

Is it difficult to make CSEBs?

No. Our semi-automated, portable, off-grid CSEB production system takes most of the labor out of CSEB production. Earth moving equipment may be rented locally or as a part of our system. Soil is transported from one machine to another via conveyor belts, and two individuals can operate the system with minor labor inputs.

Is it expensive to produce CSEBs?

No. By using locally available soils, the primary component of these Earthblocks may be excavated on site for minimal costs. Stabilizers may be purchased in bulk from local distributors, and blocks may be made on site for reduced labor and transportation charges. CSEBs produced in this way can cost 30% less than comparable masonry products.

How long does CSEB production take?

Once soil is prepared and mixed, the diesel powered press can produce about 7,000 blocks in an 8 hour period, and the manual hydraulic press can produce about 3,000 blocks in the same time frame. The exterior walls for single row (6” wide), 8’ tall, 1,200 sq.ft. structure would require about 5,000 blocks. Depending on which machine is used, the blocks required may be produced in a single day!

FAQ on CSEB assembly

Is it difficult to assemble CSEBs?

No. It is quite a bit easier to assemble CSEBs than traditional brickwork. Our unique interlocking design makes the assembly process a breeze! Basic masonry skills are used primarily for foundation work And reinforcement placement.

Is it expensive to assemble CSEBs?

No. Unskilled labor can be taught the techniques required to assemble CSEBs in a short amount of time.

How long does it take to assemble CSEBs?

Our unique interlocking design speeds up the assembly process, as our bricks stack like legos and allow mortar to be poured through interlocking channels at regular intervals. 2 individuals can generally assemble the walls for a 1200 sq.ft. structure in 2-3 days.

Can CSEBs be reinforced?

Our unique interlocking block molds include cavities for structural rebar placement within the matrix of mortar, creating a reinforced monolithic structure.
